>> >> Expandable Polystyrene
Expandable polystyrene (EPS) consists of small particles that contain blowing agent. These particles are first pre-expanded to desired density which are called prepuffs. Prepuffs are molded into the desired shape into a double walled mould which is perforated with vents to allow steam to enter and hot gases including blowing agents to leave.
First the mould is preheated with steam and prepuff particles are introduced into the inner part of the mould. Then steam is introduced under pressure to the space between the walls from where it enters into the inner mold causing the particles to soften, expand and fuse together into the desired shape.
EPS is usually coated with speciality additives which prevent clumping of the prepuff particles, stabilize cells, impart antistatic characteristics and help in quick shaping and easy demoulding.
Synergy Group have successfully come up with the desired EPS coating agents combining all features in one.
